Creating original video content to make your stuff look good. Whether working with international sports brands or local record companies our aim is to create the best possible experience of your product or service. We don't just put something in front of you, we craft a unique cinematic experience to inform, entertain and delight.
Keen to get something shot on our shiny new Sony FS100 with its Super 35mm digital sensor, we got up at the crack of dawn and went to the local woods(isn't that what everyone does when they get a new camera?). We expected to find a teddy bears picnic, obviously, but instead we found the local woodsmen doing a spot of pruning. They were really helpful and solid citizens of Nottinghamshire, so we made them look sinister and up to no good. Using Contax Zeiss prime lenses 28mm and 85mm we found the camera to be so light sensitive we had to us a Fader ND. We've since purchased a matte box and a set of ND filters as they make us look more professional!
We spent a couple of weekends at Just The Tonic in Edinburgh during the 2011 Festival. We were there researching a documentary we're planning to film at next years Edinburgh Festival and Just The Tonic were kind enough to let us roam free. They told us recently they'd love a promo film to let potential new acts know what they were all about, so we made this out of the sample footage we'd filmed last summer. Just the Tonic is now well established in the Festival Fringe calendar as a place for comedy talent on the rise. This year they boasted 10 rooms with over 84 shows a day for the month long festival. In the past they've had the likes of Jason Manford, Sarah Millican, Josie Long, Justin Moorhouse and John Richardson all before they went and spoilt it by getting on TV and doing sell out national tours. More about our 'feature length' documentary when we have it.
Philip Bloom is a legend in the DSLR/Digital film making community. Like a British Library for video cameras, he appears to own one of every video camera made. He's constantly communicating, teaching, reviewing and sharing his creative personal films, inspiring both newcomers and seasoned professionals. 'Great Wooden Boats' is one of the beautiful personal projects he creates on his days off. His blog, philipbloom.net, is treated like a bible to many and his reviews are as eagerly anticipated as the Orange crop report in the final scenes of Trading Places. Philip Bloom's work takes him around the world working for the biggest names in the industry, such as Lucasfilm, Sky One and Discovery HD.
Philip Bloom's work primarily in the digital field lead us to develop the 'PB' branding into a solid looking technical identity, whilst retaining personality with the text. We've put this logo to work across a large range of applications, but don't expect a Philip Bloom range of travel toothbrushes any time soon!
Bringing a much needed alternative to Nottingham's underground dance scene, Disconnected was a series of parties in the 'Old Post Office' in the Lace Market. The abandoned building hosted three floors of dj's. All the parties were the stuff of legends and like many myths and legends, it died too young.
We went along to the closing party to record the event for posterity. Not ones for standing still, the Disconnected crew have a few E.P's of new sounds to release. We've used a couple of these as the soundtrack to the video.
